Jessica helped craft, reevaluate, and enact SAGA’s mission of creating a more inclusive space in the Brown School of Social Work for LGBT students. Jessica helped to implement a photo campaign for Coming Out Day, led weekly meeting, planned events, provided education, and developed short and long-term strategic planning. Jessica helped position SAGA as an indispensable resource to both students and the school. Jessica represented LGBT+ folks on campus and their interests by advocating for needs of many different identities within the LGBT community. They amplified voices of those whose identities often cause them to go unheard, including POC, WOC, Trans & Gender Non-Conforming people, those with less formal education, folks with disabilities, people who have been incarcerated.


 

Sexual and Relationship Violence Educator

   05/2014 – 05/2017

Jessica created trainings about sexual violence, healthy relationships, consent, communication, and bystander intervention specifically for high school students. After a high school requests a training, a specialized curriculum was created to best connect to the students needs.  Jessica has presented to St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, New Summit High, and Edgemont PTSA's Phaedrus.

After receiving a grant from Newcomb Tulane College, Jessica created a biweekly art group for survivor of sexual aggression. Jessica facilitated group meetings focused on healing and community for survivors of sexual harassment, stalking, relationship abuse, and sexual assault.


Sexual Aggression Peer Hotline and Education

As a member of SAPHE, Jessica raised awareness about sexual aggression to the Tulane University community. Jessica answered the 24/7 hotline, provided trained crisis intervention, created photo campaigns, and facilitated educational workshops. Jessica was elected President in Spring 2016 and lead weekly meetings, managed membership for over thirty members, coordinated events, and developed short and long term strategic planning.
